Harry Herington Elected as Chairman of NIC Board of Directors

OLATHE, Kan. – June 4, 2008 – The nation’s largest eGovernment provider, NIC (NASDAQ: EGOV), today announced Chief Executive Officer Harry Herington has been elected Chairman of its Board of Directors. Herington has 24 years of government-sector experience, and joined NIC in 1995 to grow the portal business by expanding the company’s national presence and services offered.

In February, 2008, Herington was named Chief Executive Officer of NIC. He was elected Chairman at the May 6, 2008, Board of Directors meeting. Herington replaces Jeff Fraser, who stepped down as Chairman but continues as a Director on the Board. Mr. Fraser was also voted honorary title of Chairman Emeritus by the Board in recognition of his 15 years of leadership at NIC.

During the May 6 meeting, the Board of Directors confirmed the following appointments:

“Harry is a hands-on leader who has a tremendous understanding of our market and has led our portal business to the dominant position it has today,” said Director and Governor Pete Wilson. “He is the right person to serve as Chairman as the company continues to execute its long-term growth strategy.”
